MVK Christmas Basket

MVK  Christmas Basket Project  2013

"And the King will say, 'I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to Me!'  Matthew 25:40 NLT

The MVK Federation of Churches will again this year seek to address the needs of some families in our school district as we plan the 20123Christmas Basket Project. As in the past 25 years, we will need your support if we are to give boxes of food and household supplies to those in need of a little boost this holiday season. We are asking for your help. When thinking about your gift, please consider the economic times, as we have seen a large increase in the number of families needing assistance. We expect 60 to 70 families to be on our list this year. We will prepare generous boxes of food, paper goods, personal care items, soap products, and gifts for children age 18 and under. We depend heavily on our four churches, but there will be expenses beyond that giving. It will take your support to enable us to buy the perishables such as bread, cheese, chicken, eggs, fresh fruit, meat, milk, and other goods needed. We hope to give at least a two week supply of food to each family regardless of how many are in the family. Each child will receive a warm sweatshirt or sweater (very young ones will receive pajamas) and several gifts purchased by the members of our churches. All funds will be used at the discretion of our committee, which is composed of members of the Mazon United Methodist Church, Verona United Methodist Church, Park Street Congregational UCC of Mazon, and the Sacred Heart Church of Kinsman.

The Mazon State Bank will accept donations for our project or you may mail them to me, Jeanne Madison, 1605 East Braceville Road, Mazon, Illinois, 60444. Please make all checks to "MVK Christmas Fund".

The names of the families receiving baskets come from our MVK Food Pantry, MVK Grade School, We Care, and our churches.

We would welcome your help in publicizing our need within your business, club, or organization. We have greatly appreciated your support in the past and thank you very much.

In Jesus’ name,

Jeanne Madison
